AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ON DJUSD BUDGET FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
DJUSD faces a projected $4 million budget decrease as a result of major state cuts and local declining enrollment. Dr. James Hammond outlines the budget process and invites all DJUSD staff, parents, and community members to actively participate in sharing ideas about raising revenues, cutting costs, or reordering district priorities. Mark your calendar! 'Helping Your Teens Make Good Choices' (Tue. 3/11) at Holmes Jr. High MPR. 'What You Need to Know About Alcohol Use By Teens' (Wed., 4/2) at DHS Library. Both events start at 7:30 p.m.
REQUEST FOR YOUR STORIES ABOUT TEEN DRINKING
In preparation for the parent education presentation on teen drinking, the DHS PTA Parent Ed Committee is collecting stories which will be published anonymously in a handout in the April 2nd event. Please send them in by March 28th.

Crisis Counselor Deborah Kimokeo answers parents' questions about their teens. This month's topic is on the impact of the projected $4 million cut in DJUSD and how to model strength in times of adversity to demonstrate how to problem-solve when times are difficult for our children. Book of the Month: 'Revisiting The Culture of The School and the Problem of Change' by Seymour Sarason.

CLASS OF 2009 UPDATE
[Class news:] College and Career Technical Information Night will be held on March 18 at 7 p.m. in the new Performing Arts Building at DHS. This is a great opportunity for both students and parents to gather information on important decisions your students must make regarding their lives after high school.

* EARLY ASSESSMENT TEST (EAP) TEST INFORMATION FOR JUNIORS
[Posted on 2/25/2008, modified on 2/28/2008] This test is for Juniors only. It is the writing portion of the assessment. If you take the EAP then you must take the STAR. There are a few questions tied to the STAR that is connected with the EAP. Both of those scores together create the assessment score. If you pass the EAP then you may not need to take certain placement tests when entering the CSU system. There is no fee to take this test. Just let Patty Smith know your student's name and id#. The test is on Wednesday March 12th at 7:45am in the MPR. The test is 45 minutes so there is plenty of time for all students to make it to their first period class on time.

Meetings may be viewed live or on demand. The District thanks the City of Davis and the Telecommunications Commission for their partnership in providing this valuable service.
