Gabrielle Jimenez Tabor deserves recognition for finding challenge in teaching those students who are not easily reached.  Rather than follow textbook techniques, Senora Jimenez employs non-traditional methods such as Total Personal Response, which involve students in active learning.  She teaches Spanish vocabulary and grammar by having students write and perform skits and stories, which they share with one another in class.  Her easy and friendly demeanor with the students creates a non-threatening environment in which all feel encouraged and supported, and learning a language becomes both possible and enjoyable.  As her students attest, Senora Jimenez is a determined and dedicated teacher working patiently to make a difference in small ways every day.
