Mary Herbert
Outstanding Parent Volunteer 2002-03
Every year the PTA recognizes an "Outstanding Parent Volunteer" who has shown outstanding service to Davis High School, and is in her/his last year as a DHS parent/guardian. We are proud to announce Mary Herbert as this year's recipient. Mary has given a tremendous amount to our high school community over the years. The following submissions reflect back on her years at Davis High:
"Mary has generously given her expertise and time to benefit DHS every year she has had a student in DHS. She has served on Site Council for four years (at least) and has been a very efficient DHS PTA Treasurer for two years. Speaking from personal experience, Mary repeatedly goes out of her way to deliver checks when needed for newsletter postage and I know she accommodates everyone in the same helpful spirit. She has also been instrumental as parent support in making the drama department productions successful. Mary looks for ways to contribute and does so very enthusiastically and capably. Her energy will be difficult to replace!"
"What does Mary Herbert not do? Blessed with two sons..., Mary has covered the DHS front, from baseball boosters to Theatre Wings, the drama department parent group. Her involvement, however, does not revolve solely around her sons' activities. Mary has served the entire campus community, working on both the School Site Council and PTA in elected leadership roles. Without Mary..., the bigger picture might be missed time and again... Without Mary's historical memory, work might be duplicated, burning out volunteer support. Without Mary's humor, meetings might be unbearable and many of us wouldn't show up. DHS will miss Mary and her vitality. She epitomizes parent involvement and a love and support for young people that is inspirational."
PTA congratulates Mary and honors her for her efforts on our behalf! We will miss you Mary!
