"Sherri Sandburg Ransom is a teacher who is dedicated to getting her students out of the classroom ... on field trips that is! Within the classroom, she makes sure they are engaged in active learning activities. In fact, her students present their lab experiments proudly at our Spring Open House, and demonstrate to all their mastery of scientific concepts.

Last year, she worked on a power point presentation using a digital camera to take pictures from the five field trips her students completed as part of the SLEWS program. This allows her to enhance student learning further in the classroom, by showing them what is outside, combining her enthusiasm for showing students real-life experiences in the field with daily in-class lessons. We admire her dedication, her willingness to explore new methods of teaching, and her continued dedication to making scientific study engaging, important, and memorable to her students.

Her positive classroom environment, good lesson design, warmth, and sense of humor are all appreciated by her students. Her willingness to tackle new projects, work collaboratively with colleagues, and follow through on professional responsibilities makes her an asset to the staff at DHS. This quiet professional deserves recognition for all she does for DHS students. We appreciate her many contributions to our school community."
