  4. Informational:
Davis Senior High School Site Plan. This will next be reviewed in spring 2006 during the next W ASC review.
Site Council Bylaws. Gail Cooluris said we may want to remove Article III, Section 5, Items C and D as they are superseded by Article V, Section 7. It was moved and seconded that we remove these two items. This was passed.
Article V, Section 9 was also discussed and we decided not to alter it.
Article III, Section 4, Item G was altered to read "The term of office for council members shall begin at the first meeting following September Site Council Elections."
Article IV, Section 5 was amended to read, "Officers for the Council shall be elected and take office at the fIrst meeting of the school year." It was moved and seconded that we amend these two items. This motion was passed.
Article V, Section 1: Delete the words "commencing in October." This was also moved, seconded, and approved.

  5. Discussion: Site Council Agenda and Minutes: How to communicate effectively with the high school community.
Sarah O'Keefe asked for suggestions on posting the minutes prior to meetings more widely. The PTA listserver and parent listservers were suggested - Gail H. said that it isn't really appropriate for the parent listservers. It can also be posted on the DSHS web site and the PTA website. It can be posted to all staff via email.
It will continue to be in the Daily Bulletin with a note added listing the location of the agenda. The PTA newsletter can include the link to the Site Council web posting.

  6. Election process
Site council elections have been held during period 4 of the Back to School Night. 2000 printed, 200 returned. As a teacher, Sarah says it is an imposition on the teachers' limited time. Mike proposed that during the assembly before the class time ballots could be distributed and collected. Students can help distribute and collect in boxes. Sarah will contact the new PTA president in spring about including the voting information in the first PTA newsletter.

  7. Public comment

  8. Other information:
    a. Principal's request
Mike Cawley said that we have helped for the past several years to fund 1/3 of the 3rd assistant principal's salary. $8,900 of this was not used last year because Pam Mari was reassigned without another AP appointed. He'd like to carry this over for next year. It was moved, seconded, and passed.
    b. Thank you
Thank you card received from Mr. Stone for approving his proposal last year
    c. Davis Public Schools Education Foundation
This is a fairly new organization with the goal of raising large amounts of money for major projects, including corporate donations. It is unclear how this would impact PTA or other school organizations. Sarah, as SIP coordinator, has been invited to a brain-storming fundraising meeting during the school day at the District Office. She asked if anyone wanted to attend in her stead. Friday, October 8, 8:45-10 a.m.

There was no further business. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
