Minutes
- Approval and review of minutes. The minutes of the September 22, 2005, meeting were approved.
- Student/staff/parent survey 2003. This district survey was part of the WASC process 3 years ago. The district will be distributing this or a version of this again. There were questions about the origin and format of the survey, whether it was useful and to whom. Was there any follow-up to this survey? The comment was made that there is confusion about some of the choices: example, when certificated response indicates amount of homework is appropriate, it is not clear whether those disagreeing felt homework was too much or too little. Steve Williams offered to help with survey design.
- School Site Plan: Review. This document will be updated. Department chairs have the pages about their departments, which are due back to Sarah in January. It was asked whether the areas of improvement will be addressed or commented upon. New departments and programs not currently included will be added. The site plan is on the same review cycle as WASC. Site council grants need to be linked to school improvement. The comment was made that problems need to more clearly defined, that language is vague.
- Other.
Funding financial secretary: the question was asked at the last meeting about the legality of funding a salary. An email from Ann Costello was attached to the minutes indicating there is no problem with expanding a position; we may use funds to expand time base of existing position but may not fund a new position.
Steve investigated whether we need to file financial disclosures: not in this district.
Bill asked whether we need reports back after grants from SIP to see how useful/effective the money was. At this point there is no regular reporting.
Kaitlin spoke of a survey she did with the American Lung Association on DSHS air quality. She would like to look for ways to expand this and address problems. It was suggested that she approach Student Government with her ideas.
There was no further business. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 P.M.

Meetings are in the Large Conference Room unless otherwise announced. Meetings are from 3:00 – 4:30, although during the allocation process meetings run until 5:00 P.M.
