Tutoring

Students at DHS, including academically gifted whiz kids, receive tutoring.  PTA provides free lunch time peer tutoring in math and science.   Specifics are announced in the daily bulletin or posted on the bulletin board in the counseling office as they become available.  Students also tutor each other.  Some charge for their services (about $10 per hour is the going rate); others negotiate (tutoring in one subject for help in another; a batch of brownies for help before a test).  Private tutors charge up to $40 an hour, but can be worth it.  Academic struggles are a major source of stress at DHS; tutoring can ease the burden.
